About the book

David Jones compiled these hundred stories for the two hundredth anniversary of John Oxley exploring and naming the Brisbane River in 1823. They are arranged in seven sections running from the river's early days through the colonial era to shipwrecks, wartime and the modern port.

Jones is a lifelong Brisbane resident with a particular interest in the city's nautical and aviation history. He has written or helped write ten books on maritime history and volunteers in the library of the Queensland Maritime Museum at South Bank.
