Out of Manly harbour, point the bow north-east, and you are on the sand at Green Island before the esky has settled. A shelly spit curls off the island's north-west corner with clear, shallow water tucked in behind it, and whichever way the wind blows there is a side of the bar out of it. It gets busy on a good weekend, and it is still one of the prettiest little beaches in the bay.
