Port of Airlie is the newest of the three public ramps at Airlie Beach and the one with the most parking. It launches into the sheltered marina basin, so the ramp itself is flat water in almost any wind, and the run out past the marina leads into Pioneer Bay and the Whitsunday Passage beyond. The state register lists it as usable on all tides.
The precinct is also the ferry terminal for the islands, so expect coach and foot traffic through the car park on any morning. Trailer parking is in the council bays; the paid car parks nearer the terminal are time-limited and not meant for trailers. On a fine weekend with the wind under about 10 knots the trailer bays fill early. Cafés, fuel and provisioning are a short walk away in the marina village.
Six knots applies through the marina and its lead entrance, and since December 2022 through the Pioneer Bay mooring zones as well. If the bays are full, the alternatives are the Coral Sea Marina (Abell Point) ramp about 1.5 km west, or the VMR ramp at Whisper Bay, Cannonvale.
Marine Rescue Queensland Whitsunday keeps a listening watch on VHF 16 and 67; log on before you head out. Mobile coverage fades once you are among the islands. Box jellyfish and Irukandji are in these waters from October to May.
