Bucasia is the largest of Mackay's northern beach suburbs, and its ramp sits on the north bank of Eimeo Creek at the southern end of the Esplanade, looking across the creek to Eimeo. It has two concrete lanes, a car park for about 32 rigs and a water tap, which makes it the best-equipped of the northern beaches creek ramps; council added solar lighting and CCTV in early 2022.
The limitation is the creek. Eimeo Creek runs out across a sand bar and the state register flags the ramp as tide-limited: on the bottom half of a six-metre spring tide there is little water at the ramp and less at the mouth. Launch and come home on the top half, and read the bar on the way out. The smaller Sunset Boulevard ramp on the Eimeo side of the creek has the same constraint with fewer bays.
Once outside, the water opens onto the Bucasia–Shoal Point coast, with Sunset Bay and the northern beaches to the north and the islands off Mackay within reach of a trailer boat on a good day. The creek fishes for bream, whiting, flathead and crabs. Marine Rescue Queensland Mackay monitors VHF 16. Stinger season is October to May; crocodiles are present in the creek.
