Eimeo is the beach suburb on the headland north of Mackay, best known for the old Eimeo Hotel on the hill. The ramp is down on Sunset Boulevard on the southern bank of Eimeo Creek, in the corner of Sunset Bay. It is a single concrete lane with a water tap and a car park of only five bays, so it suits the tinnie kept in a garage nearby rather than a Saturday crowd. The two-lane Bucasia ramp with 32 bays is across the creek and a short drive round.
The creek and its bar dry out on the low, and the state register flags the ramp as tide-limited; with Mackay's six-metre springs, the top half of the tide is the working window. Outside the creek the water is Sunset Bay and the Eimeo–Bucasia coast, with the northern beaches and offshore islands beyond in settled weather.
Eimeo Creek fishes for bream, whiting, flathead and mud crabs. There are no toilets at the ramp. Marine Rescue Queensland Mackay monitors VHF 16. Stinger season is October to May; crocodiles are present.
