Jacobs Well sits on the delta of the Pimpama River at the southern end of Moreton Bay and is best known for exactly this: its boat ramp, its Marine Rescue base and the cane fields behind. Gold Coast Waterways Authority rebuilt the facility between February and November 2021 at a cost of $1.755 million, widening the four 3.5 m lanes to 4 m, adding a floating walkway, relocating the old pontoon as a dedicated deep-draught and queuing facility, and replacing the jetty in concrete with aluminium rails. The state register lists it as usable on all tides; reviewers give it nine or ten out of ten.
Parking is generous at 105 bays with a tourist park and bait shop next door, but on a calm winter weekend the lot is full before sunrise. The water is the southern bay: the Jumpinpin channels and the bar, the back of South Stradbroke, the Southern Moreton Bay Islands and the Logan mouth, all threaded through sand banks that move. Six knots applies at the ramp and past the moorings.
