This is the launch for the canal estates behind Broadbeach and Surfers, in a park on T E Peters Drive across the water from the Convention Centre. The ramp is wide, with sandy beach sections either side for pulling a boat up, and the water in front is flat canal water, sheltered from wind and swell. The state register lists it as usable on all tides.
Parking is the constraint: about 11 marked car-trailer bays, and the roads around Broadbeach are congested, so a big rig on a Saturday is hard work. Commercial operators occasionally use the ramp to load materials. From the ramp the Nerang River runs north through the canals to Surfers Paradise, the Broadwater and the Seaway, with six-knot limits through most of it and fishing for bream, flathead and jack along the canal walls.
Marine Rescue Queensland Gold Coast covers the Broadwater on VHF 16 and 73. Speed limits and the many no-wash zones are set by Maritime Safety Queensland and enforced.
