Tingalpa Creek forms the boundary between Brisbane and the Redlands, and the Thorneside ramp is on its southern bank on Queens Esplanade, a few hundred metres up from the mouth. It is a single concrete lane at a ten per cent grade with toilets, a tap and about 11 bays, and the state register lists it as usable on all tides, as the creek is deep in its channel, though the mouth opens onto the Waterloo Bay flats.
It is a sheltered ramp, protected from most winds by the creek banks, and a good one for small boats: bream, flathead, whiting and mud crabs in the creek, the Aquatic Paradise canals on the far bank, and the bay off Wellington Point and Manly a short run out. Six knots applies in the creek and the canals. A canoe ramp is nearby on Railway Parade.
Manly Boat Harbour to the north and Wellington Point to the south are the bigger ramps. Marine Rescue Queensland Raby Bay monitors VHF 16.
