Barungwarra is a bushland reserve on the South Pine River at the northern edge of Brisbane, and its ramp is the quieter of the two Bald Hills launches. A single concrete lane with an eight-tonne load limit, room for about 16 rigs on the unmarked ground, and no toilets, water or lighting. The state register lists it as usable on all tides, though the upper Pine is narrow and muddy at the edges on a low spring.
The river here winds through mangroves and bushland between Strathpine and the Deep Water Bend junction, sheltered from any wind, and it is tinnie and kayak water: bream, flathead, jack and mud crabs, with the Pine River mouth and Bramble Bay a long run downstream. Six knots applies through most of the river. After rain the Pine rises quickly and carries debris.
Deep Water Bend (Wyampa Road) a few kilometres east has two lanes, a pontoon, toilets and 55 bays. Marine Rescue Queensland Brisbane monitors VHF 16.
