The Tinchi Tamba Wetlands Reserve Boat Ramp is a well-kept two-lane concrete ramp just off Wyampa Road in Bald Hills, giving easy access to the Pine River and the surrounding mix of tidal and freshwater wetlands. It is close to picnic areas, barbecues, a playground and plenty of parking, which makes it a popular spot for launching boats, kayaks and canoes as well as for fishing and watching the wildlife. Council lists a single ramp, pontoon and floating walkway at Deep Water Bend; the state register records two lanes, 55 bays, toilets and water and rates it usable on all tides.
From the ramp the Pine River runs a few kilometres east under the Hornibrook and Houghton highway bridges into Bramble Bay, with the Redcliffe peninsula to the north and the Brisbane River mouth to the south; upstream it narrows into the North and South Pine rivers. Six knots applies near the ramp, the moorings and the bridges. Bream, flathead, jack and mud crabs in the river; the wetlands are a bird sanctuary. Locals report car break-ins here at night.
Barungwarra on the South Pine is the small alternative; Dohles Rocks on the north bank is the City of Moreton Bay ramp. Marine Rescue Queensland Brisbane monitors VHF 16.
