Colmslie Reserve is a riverside park on the Morningside side of the Brisbane River, opposite the Hamilton wharves. The ramp is two concrete lanes at a ten per cent grade with a pontoon alongside, a floating walkway, a water tap and about 21 bays, with a fishing platform in the reserve; council lists it as one of its eight river hubs. The state register lists it as usable on all tides, as this is the deep, working reach of the river.
It is the natural launch for the lower river: downstream past the Gateway Bridge, Pinkenba and the port to the river mouth and Moreton Bay, or upstream through the city reaches. Six knots applies near the ramp, the CityCat terminals, moorings and bridges; the river's general limit is 40 knots but the wash rules are enforced. Ships and tugs use this reach, so keep clear of the shipping channel and the Hamilton wharves.
Pinkenba (Kirra Street) and Hemmant are the other east-side ramps; Manly Boat Harbour is the bay alternative. Marine Rescue Queensland Brisbane monitors VHF 16.
