Breakfast Creek is the tidal lower reach of Enoggera Creek, entering the Brisbane River at Newstead beside the Breakfast Creek Hotel, and this ramp on Beaumont Street is a few hundred metres up the north bank. It is a single concrete lane at a ten per cent grade with a pontoon, a tap and about seven bays, hemmed in by the moorings that line the creek, as council leases swing moorings here at $161 a month. The state register flags the ramp as tide-limited; the creek is shallow and muddy at the edges on a low spring.
It is a handy inner-city launch for a small boat: out of the creek and into the river at the Newstead reach, downstream past the Gateway Bridge to the river mouth, or upstream through the city. Six knots applies in the creek and around the CityCat terminals; the river's general limit is 40 knots but drops to six near moorings, bridges and swimmers. Bream, flathead and jew are caught in the river; the creek holds bream and mud crabs.
Colmslie and Pinkenba are the bigger ramps downstream. Marine Rescue Queensland Brisbane monitors VHF 16.
