Karalee is a rural-residential suburb of Ipswich on the southern bank of the Brisbane River, and the Park Road ramp at Barellan Point is its launch. A single concrete lane with about six bays and a tap, no toilets, in a quiet reserve. The state register lists it as usable on all tides; this is the upper tidal river, where the water level after dry spells and the flow after rain matter as much as the tide table.
The reach is sheltered and slow, between the Bremer River junction upstream and Moggill downstream, and it is small-boat water: bass and jack in the timber, bream and flathead in the deeper bends, canoes and kayaks along the banks. Ski boats use the wider stretches. Six knots applies near the ramp and the moorings. A canoe launching ramp sits in Joseph Brady Park nearby.
Karana Downs on the opposite bank and Goodna downstream are the alternatives. No marine rescue cover on this reach; emergency is 000.
