Kookaburra Park sits on the northern bank of the Brisbane River at Karana Downs, a few kilometres below Colleges Crossing. The ramp is a single concrete lane at a ten per cent grade with a proper car park of about 15 bays, and no toilets or water. The state register lists it as usable on all tides. Since Ipswich City Council rebuilt Colleges Crossing without a concrete ramp in 2024, this is the furthest upstream the tidal Brisbane can be reached with a trailer.
The reach is sheltered, tree-lined and quiet, with bass and jack in the snags and bream in the deeper holes, and a long slow run downstream past Karalee, the Bremer junction and Moggill. After rain in the ranges the river rises fast and carries timber for days, so check the Bureau's Brisbane River heights before you go. Six knots applies near the ramp and the moorings.
