Lamb Island sits between Karragarra and Macleay in the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, and its Lucas Drive harbour on the south-western shore is where the passenger ferry, the vehicle barge and the public boat ramp all meet. The ramp is a single concrete lane at an eight per cent grade with a pontoon, toilets and a tap; parking is unmarked, and the barge has priority on the ramp when it is landing.
The state register flags the ramp as tide-limited, and the flats around the island dry a long way at low water, so time the launch and retrieve for the top half and keep to the channel markers. The water beyond is the sheltered inner passage between the islands and the mainland at Redland Bay, with the Canaipa Passage to the south and the run north to Macleay, Coochiemudlo and Peel Island.
