Henderson Park is a riverside reserve at Logan Reserve, well above Waterford and Bethania, and its ramp is the furthest upstream of the public launches on the Logan. It is a single concrete lane at an eight per cent grade, with unmarked parking on the grass and no toilets or water. The state register flags it as tide-limited: the tide still reaches this far, but the river is narrow and shallow at the edges, and after a dry spell it is the river level rather than the tide that decides whether you float.
It suits tinnies, canoes and kayaks. The reach is quiet, tree-lined and sheltered, with bass and jack in the snags, bream and the odd flathead lower down, and it is a long, winding run to anything resembling open water. After heavy rain the Logan comes up fast and carries debris; check the Bureau's river height gauges.
Bethania (Federation Drive) and Waterford (Albert Street) are the next ramps downstream. There is no marine rescue cover on the upper river; emergency is 000.
