The two ramps at Muriel Henchman Park sit within 50 m of each other on the Broadwater side of the Spit, with white sand beaches, a jetty, toilets and showers, and the Seaway a few hundred metres away, which makes this the ramp for anyone heading offshore. The northern ramp carries a 20-tonne load limit because the commercial charter and tour operators use it; expect their traffic on the ramp and in the car park on any weekend morning.
Gold Coast Waterways Authority finished a major upgrade of the precinct in December 2024: six boat ramp lanes across the two ramps, new pontoons and floating walkways, expanded parking with accessible bays, new amenities and, in 2026, a full set of wayfinding and interpretive signage that also names the place Yungunn, meaning dugong, in the local language. The seagrass off the park is dugong habitat, so the six-knot and no-wash rules around the park are enforced.
The Seaway bar is the serious hazard here: it breaks in a big easterly swell against an ebb tide, and Marine Rescue Queensland Southport, based beside the Seaway, monitors VHF 16 and 73 and posts bar conditions. The state register lists the ramp as usable on all tides.
