The southern ramp at Muriel Henchman Park is the one most trailer boats use: the northern ramp 50 m away is shared with the charter operators and carries a 20-tonne limit, while this one is the everyday recreational launch. Both have sandy beaches either side, a jetty, toilets and showers, and both open onto the sheltered Broadwater with the Gold Coast Seaway, the main entrance to the ocean, a few hundred metres to the north.
The precinct was rebuilt by Gold Coast Waterways Authority in 2024, finishing in December: six lanes across the two ramps, upgraded pontoons and floating walkways, expanded parking including accessible bays, and new amenities and landscaping. Parking here was always generous by Gold Coast standards and is more so now, though the car park still fills on a calm winter Saturday.
Six knots and no wash apply around the park, where the seagrass beds are dugong habitat, and around the Marine Rescue base and the Seaway moorings. The Seaway itself is a bar, and dangerous on an ebb against an easterly swell; Marine Rescue Queensland Southport monitors VHF 16 and 73 from the Seaway tower. The state register lists the ramp as usable on all tides.
