Alberton Road runs north through cane paddocks to a reserve on the Logan River, and the ramp at the end is one of the better-kept secrets of the northern Gold Coast. It is a single but wide concrete lane with a floating pontoon and a jetty alongside, toilets and a tap, and a drive-around car park that a 2021 review counted at 17 bays, the number confirmed on site this year, though the state register still says ten. The state register lists it as usable on all tides, and the Logan is deep here.
From the ramp the river runs a few kilometres east to its mouth between the mainland and the bottom of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with Jacobs Well and the Jumpinpin channels to the south and Redland Bay to the north. Six knots applies near the ramp and the moorings; the lower Logan has ski areas upstream. Bream, flathead, jack and threadfin salmon in the river, mud crabs in the side creeks.
Jacobs Well is the big four-lane ramp a few minutes south; Steiglitz (Cabbage Tree Point) is the other Gold Coast City ramp on this shore. Marine Rescue Queensland Jacobs Well monitors VHF 16.
