Sylvan Beach is the sheltered stretch of Passage shoreline on the island side just north of the Bribie bridge, and its Marine Parade ramp is the island's principal launch. The state register lists four lanes, a floating walkway and a shared car park of about 106 bays with toilets and water; on the ground in September 2026 the ramp has five lanes. It is the first stage of the City of Moreton Bay's Bellara Foreshore (Sylvan Beach) renewal, which rebuilt the ramp and car park with safer pedestrian crossings and marked waiting areas from early 2024, with new picnic and music space beside the Crest Park shops.
The water is the Pumicestone Passage, usable on all tides from this ramp, but shallow and sand-barred almost everywhere else: care is needed over the banks, there are rocks and coffee rock along the shore, and go-slow zones for dugong apply at Tripcony Bight, Long Island and Westaways Creek. The old oyster lease south of the Sandstone Point hotel is dangerous and invisible at high water. The Bribie bridge has 5 m clearance. Boats up to about 5 m can reach Caloundra on the high tide.
South of the bridge, Bongaree's Fifth Avenue ramps are the alternatives on the island and Sandstone Point on the mainland. Marine Rescue Queensland Bribie Island monitors VHF 16.
