The southern of the two Fifth Avenue ramps is the two-lane one, with the car park, toilets and tap it shares with the single-lane ramp beside it. It launches into the Pumicestone Passage on the town side of Bribie, between the Bongaree jetty and the bridge, into water that is sheltered but shallow: the state register flags this ramp as tide-limited, and the sand flats between Bongaree and the mainland dry a long way out at the bottom of a spring tide.
Launch and retrieve on the top half and keep to the marked channel. Six knots applies along the foreshore and around the jetty. From here the southern Passage opens to Deception Bay and Moreton Bay proper past the bridge, and northwards the Passage runs 35 km to Caloundra for small boats on a high tide, past the dugong go-slow zones.
Bongaree has shops, cafés and fuel. Sylvan Beach at Bellara, north of the bridge, is the all-tide four-lane ramp. Marine Rescue Queensland Bribie Island monitors VHF 16.
