Bongaree is the old town on the Passage side of Bribie, and the two Fifth Avenue ramps sit side by side on Welsby Parade between the jetty and the bridge. This is the northern one: a single concrete lane at a ten per cent grade, listed by the state register as usable on all tides, sharing a car park of about 30 bays, toilets and a water tap with the two-lane southern ramp a few metres away.
The Passage here is narrow and the tide runs, but the water is sheltered and the ramp is a short run from the bridge, Sandstone Point and the southern end of the Passage towards Deception Bay. Six knots applies along the Bongaree foreshore and near the jetty. The sand banks in the Passage are the hazard everywhere; keep to the marked channel, and note the go-slow zones for dugong further north.
