Boykambil is the old settlement on the Hope Island side of Coombabah Creek, and its ramp sits in a park on the Esplanade with a wide sandy beach, a fixed wharf, toilets, a barbecue and a playground. It is a single concrete lane at a nine per cent grade with about 13 marked bays, and the state register lists it as usable on all tides.
Coombabah Creek is wide here and runs hard, and the ramp is open to the south-easterly across the water, so the retrieve can be tricky when wind and tide are working together; there are sharp rocks not far off the beach. The water leads out past Jabiru Island to the Coomera mouth and the Broadwater in one direction and up into the sheltered upper creek in the other, with six-knot zones near the canals and moorings.
Jabiru Island (Oxley Drive) on the south side of the creek has more lanes and parking, and Paradise Point is a short drive on. Marine Rescue Queensland Southport monitors VHF 16 and 73.
